If it's raining and pouring there is nothing we love more than a hearty and healthy hot chocolate.
This cacao almond milk hot chocolate is just the thing to make you feel toasty and satisfied - homemade almond milk with raw cacao powder, cinnamon and nutmeg, finished with a drizzle of agave for extra sweetness.
Making any type of nut milk is ridiculously easy if you have a Hurom masticating juicer however if you don't a) we recommend you invest in one and b) you'll have to do it the harder way. This sees you blending the nuts and then straining through a specific nut strainer. There are so many videos on this so have a look around on the web.
We use our Hurom juicer so simply soak the nut of choice overnight - almond or brazil nut are great for this and then pop through the juicer in the morning. Transport into a glass bottle and keep in the fridge for 2-3 days.
Almonds are naturally alkaline forming and are full of magnesium, zinc and vitamin e - great for skin and calming and restoring energy.
To make the warm cacao milk, warm the milk (one cup to serve one) on a low heat with a cinnamon stick (about 2cm), grated nutmeg (1/8 teaspoon) and raw cacao (one tablespoon). The heating of the milk actually thickens it a little and the cacao dissolves once it has warmed through but does need a good stir to not get clumps. Once warmed through add a spoonful of agave syrup to taste - this really depends on how much sweetness you need.
